Aston Villa fans on Twitter have been discussing Villa goalkeeper Jed Steer.
This comes after Villa journalist Dan Bardell shared a post on his official Twitter page claiming that Villa fans should never underestimate Steer’s impact on the team last season before adding that the club would have been nowhere near the play-off final without him.
Bardell shared this post after quote-tweeting another made by the official Villa Twitter account that contained video footage of Steer’s impressive save he made against West Bromwich Albion last season in Villa’s first-leg 2-1 win in the semi-final of the Championship play-offs at Villa Park.
This post from Bardell then gathered a number of replies from Villa fans, who were eager to share their thoughts on the ‘keeper.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans responding to the post:
Never ever under estimate this guys impact. Nowhere near a play off final without him. @JedSteer ?? #AVFC #utv https://t.co/BYgGuOHr0T

That save is a big reason we are in the Prem in my opinion

Probably alongside Elmo one of our most up underrated players

Always rated him. Real shame he had those injuries a few seasons ago, wasted a few years with injuries and the resulting loans.

Don’t forget his pen save against SWFC

Is Jed Steer underrated?
Yes
No
Every member of that squad played its part in the last 15 games but Steer was absolutely outstanding.

Loved the fact he thought it had gone in so was about to wheel away in celebration

What do we think?
It’s good to see so many Villa fans recognising Steer’s efforts in what turned out to be a big win for Villa as they eventually won promotion back to the Premier League at the end of that season.
