In his latest Q&A on The Athletic, Phil Hay commented on the future of Leeds goalkeeper Kiko Casilla, as well as suggesting that the club are looking at bringing in an unnamed Premier League goalkeeper.

Casilla joined Leeds last summer, on a free transfer from Spanish giants Real Madrid, and has gone on to make 35 Championship appearances for the club, conceding 30 goals and keeping 15 clean sheets.

To kick things off what season is this from?

However, the 33-year-old’s time in Leeds has been marred by the fact that he received an eight-game ban due to using racist language during a game at Charlton in September.

In his Q&A, Hay states this could one of the reasons why Leeds will look to move the ‘keeper on this summer, stating:

“My gut feeling is that they’ll replace Casilla. I’m not sure he’d be that keen to stay himself after what’s gone on in the past six months.”

Hay then went on to claim that he has heard that the club are interested in signing a top-flight goalkeeper over the coming transfer window:

“I was told today of a Premier League keeper who Leeds are looking at closely. Need to check it out a bit more but I strongly suspect they’ll be on the look-out – as well as taking [Illan] Meslier permanently.”

As such, it looks as if Illan Meslier, who is currently on-loan at the club from French side FC Lorient, will be joining the club on a permanent deal, while Casilla will be moved in order for Leeds to sign a new shot-stopper this summer.
