Some Sheffield Wednesday supporters have recently taken to Twitter to share some negative words about Owls goalkeeper Cameron Dawson in response to a tweet that was recently posted by Wednesday-focused journalist Dom Howson which shares a recent article focusing on the 24-year-old goalkeeper.

Howson’s recent article, which was published by Yorkshire Live, states that Dawson has “usurped fans’ favourite Kieren Westwood” as Wednesday’s first-choice goalkeeper this season.

Dawson, who is valued at £450k (as per Transfermarkt), has played a higher number of minutes than any other Wednesday goalkeeper this term according to Transfermarkt.co.uk, with the 24-year-old featuring in 24 of the Owls’ 37 Championship games during the 2019/20 campaign thus far.

Some Owls supporters have been critical of Dawson’s performances for the club this season in response to Howson’s recent tweet sharing an article about the goalkeeper. Read the critical posts from some Wednesday supporters criticising Dawson in the tweets below.

Against which team did Leeds record their biggest home win?

What do we think?

Dawson has earned an average overall rating of 6.24 from his 24 Championship games this season according to WhoScored.com. This makes him Wednesday’s third-lowest rated player for the 2019/20 Championship campaign according to WhoScored, with 23 players achieving a higher average overall rating than Dawson this term.

Considering that he has replaced a player who Yorkshire Live have recently described as a “fan favourite” as Wednesday’s first choice between the sticks, in addition to the fact that his performances have been relatively poorly rated this season, it may be understandable why some Owls fans have been critical of Dawson’s performances for the club during the 2019/20 campaign.
