These Sheffield Wednesday fans have been discussing forward Fernando Forestieri following Dom Howson’s post regarding the 30-year-old. The Yorkshire Live reporter has been sharing his thoughts on whether or not the club should be looking to hold on to the player after his current contract expires.
Forestieri’s current deal expires at the end of this season and in Howson’s view, ‘he is no longer the player he once was. It is time for the club to move on’. The player, who is valued at £653k (Transfermarkt), has made 17 appearances in the Championship this season, scoring two goals and providing two assists, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
However, he’s only been part of Garry Monk’s starting line-up in 22% of their league fixtures since the start of the campaign – highlighting the fact that he is seen by the boss as out of favour.
What have the fans had to say regarding the player?
Should have gone after his no show v Norwich. Done next to nowt since to justify the new contract he got afterwards. Get rid!!!!!!!

Get Rid, way too inconsistent

Inconsistent but absolutely quality on his day needs the right manager to manage him and GM isn’t that but I’m one for shifting all the players of the final of 2016 out it’s stale and it’s well and truly needs freshening up. Wouldn’t be too sad to see him leave

Should be released. Great on his day and especially in a winning confident team. Absolutely ineffective in a struggling side that needs him at his best every game for a full season.

What do we think?
It’s clear from the above responses that these supporters believe it’s best that the club moves the Argentinian-born striker on and given the season he has had, in our view, it’s difficult to disagree.
