Sheffield Wednesday-focused Twitter account @LiveSwfc recently posted a tweet asking Owls fans if former Wednesday attacker Gary Hooper could “still do a job” at Hillsborough.
This tweet has caught the attention of some Wednesday supporters, many of whom have shared that they think the 32-year-old centre forward would still have something to offer Wednesday had he remained at the club.
@LiveSwfc’s recent tweet shares a link to an article that was recently published by Yorkshire Live which states that Hooper may be the player who the Owls miss the most “out of all the players Sheffield Wednesday released at the end of last season”. Many Wednesday fans have shared a similar view on Twitter recently, with one Owls fan declaring that they miss Hooper “massively”.

What do we think?
Hooper, who is valued at £1.08 million (as per Transfermarkt), made just six Championship appearances for the Owls last season, as per Transfermarkt.co.uk. Yorkshire Live’s recent article explains that the 32-year-old had a constant struggle with injuries throughout the 2018/19 campaign. These injury issues may have played a role in Hooper being released by the club at the end of that term.
However, the forward has featured in 16 of Wellington Phoenix’s 20 A-League games so far this season since joining them back in October. Hooper is also currently Wellington Phoenix’s third-highest goalscorer this season. Furthermore, Wellington-based reporter Jason Pine has claimed that Hooper has “been very good” of late, as per Yorkshire Live.
With all of that in mind, it may be understandable why some Owls fans have recently taken to Twitter to share some regret about allowing Hooper to leave at the end of last season.
