Sheffield Wednesday-focused Twitter account @VitalWednesday recently posted a tweet which asked Owls fans the “controversial question” of whether or not they would welcome Steve Bruce back to the club should he leave Newcastle United.
Many Wednesday supporters have been sharing mixed reactions over whether or not they would like to see Bruce return to the club in response to this tweet.
As reported by Sky Sports last week, PCP Capital Partners recently “moved a step closer to buying Newcastle United by lodging paperwork with the Premier League”.
As a result, there has been some speculation around the future of Magpies boss Bruce. Inews.co.uk recently reported that while Bruce will allegedly be left “in charge for the club’s remaining games” this season, “the 59-year-old would face a less certain future going forward under the proposed new ownership”.
This speculation around Bruce’s future has led to some Owls supporters discussing whether or not they would like to see their former manager return to the club.

Former #swfc manager Steve Bruce odds on favourite to be sacked from @NUFC once the takeover is complete. Controversial question but would you welcome him back at S6?
— Vital Wednesday (@VitalWednesday) April 18, 2020
Why anyone would welcome Bruce back is beyond me. And just the little matter of. WEVE ALREADY GOT A MANAGER. MONK

That ship as sailed, if he came back and then following season Man U came in for him he would jump ship again, a snake never changes

Not for me. I’m not convinced it would have been any different he just did not stay long enough for players to spit dummy out. Only one I’d welcome back currently which many disagree would be @carloscarvalha2 however I’m also happy to give monk a chance if chansiri allows

While some Wednesday supporters have declared that they would not take Bruce back in response to this tweet, some Owls fans have shared that they would take Bruce back at Hillsborough, despite the way that he left the club during his previous stint as Owls boss.
Controversial but yes, best manager and chance of progressing we had in years…
Monk is useless in comparison….— ?onthe?????????? (@philluptheowls) April 18, 2020
The best we’ve had for last ten years and probably next ten!

Would you take Steve Bruce back at Sheffield Wednesday?YES, FORGET HOW HE LEFT, HE WOULD GET US PROMOTEDNO, HE HAD HIS CHANCE AND HE BLEW IT |
100% would have him back, the way he departed would be a distant memory of we progressed. Us football fans have short memories. IE, FF has refused to play a few tiles and is still idolised

It’s what happens in football when you look at it Newcastle is a better offer. You have to look at how he could change the rest of the season and some of the players he’s signed such as irofa and Harris they’ve both been playing well so he could help us stay up potentially

I’m torn! Hate him for the way he departed (just like most ppl). But I believe he’d be the guy to sort out Chansiri & put him in the right path.
— keiron wilcock (@keiron1972) April 18, 2020
I wouldn’t welcome him back but I’d have him back.

What do we think?
Considering that Bruce previously resigned from his position as Sheffield Wednesday manager amid reports that Newcastle United were interested in the 59-year-old, it may be understandable why some Owls fans might not be too keen on seeing Bruce return to the club.
However, having previously secured “four promotions from the second-tier of English football”, it may also be understandable why the prospect of Bruce returning to Hillsborough may appeal to some Owls fans despite the way he left the club last time around.
