A group of Middlesbrough supporters have been discussing their famous FA Cup semi-final clash with Chesterfield in 1997 after the club shared the highlights via their official Twitter account.
The third-tier side, featuring the now Burnley boss Sean Dyche almost achieved the unthinkable that day but Boro made light-work of them in the replay at Hillsborough. On the score sheet that day for Bryan Robson’s side were Fabrizio Ravanelli, Craig Hignett and Gianluca Festa (as per BBC Sport).
Here’s what some of the club’s supporters had to say regarding that April fixture.
What a day ?

Remember the end of the match, walking out of old Trafford. Everything just felt so flat. It was like, not again week or so after Leicester game.

I was sat a couple of rows from the pitch, right by where Kinder made that foul. Still can’t believe what he was thinking. Another day of total ups and downs as a Boro supporter.

Described by the BBC as one of the ‘all-time classics’, the game certainly delivered in terms of entertainment, controversy and all that you would associate with a memorable cup tie.
