Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard could be a realistic transfer target for Leeds United should they secure promotion to the Premier League, that’s according to Phil Hay of the Athletic. During a recent Q&A session, one fan asked the question regarding the 22-year-old striker.

Here is what the Leeds writer had to say in full: ‘Off-topic but I don’t see why not. Everyone in the SPL has a price because most players in the SPL want to progress to the Premier League. It would depend on budget and valuation (and on whether or not Bielsa even wanted him) but he’s been one of the stand-out players at Celtic. There’ll be interest in him.’

Against which team did Leeds record their biggest home win?

Edouard has impressed in the Scottish Premier League, scoring 21 goals in 27 appearances so far this season. As well as his ability to find the back of the net, the French Under-21 international has proven himself to be a competent provider with an impressive 12 assists to his name.

He joined the Hoops from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2018 in a deal reportedly worth £9.27m (via Transfermarkt.co.uk). Since his arrival, his value has increased to £13.5m.

TIF Tactics – An upgrade on Patrick Bamford?

Patrick Bamford currently leads the line for Marcelo Bielsa’s side but the Englishman has received his fair share of criticism this season. As a result of some of his below-par performances, the Argentinian coach has also faced many questions regarding his insistence on selecting the 26-year-old in 95% of their Championship fixtures.

Would Edouard be an upgrade on Bamford?

Edouard certainly has the superior goalscoring record however you might argue that the difference in the two competitions make it extremely difficult to compare the pair directly.

Leeds United were relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2003/04 season and were edging closer to a return prior to the suspension of English football due to the recent viral outbreak. Although there is plenty of football still to be played, if the Whites do go up they will need to ensure their recruitment is effective in order to give themselves the best possible chance of survival.
