A group of Charlton Athletic supporters have been discussing the future of their club having read a piece in the Daily Mail by Martin Samuel. The article was shared on Twitter by @airmanbrown and questions how the EFL has allowed the recent takeover to happen given what recently happened to Bury, who were expelled from the EFL earlier this season following a failed takeover.
Tahnoon Nimer, the man at the centre of all the controversy, appears to be avoiding investing the money he claims to have into the football club itself, and Samuel fears that serious trouble for the Addicks is just around the corner.
The report claims that the club could go into administration as a result of the current situation – and here is what some of the fans have had to say in response.
This highlights the huge weakness in @EFL fit & proper persons test. Individuals are able to buy a club for a nominal some & take control before proving they have adequate finances. These deals must be outlawed, the lessons from Bury have not been learnt. #cafc

After bury were kicked out of the e.f.l. by the efl. The least the e.f.l. should of done was make a public statement that this will never be allowed to happen again . We the e.f.l. will change the rules so this doesn’t happen again .the e.f.l are past there sell by date . ??

Normally avoid the mail but we’ll done Martin Samuel on this piece. Rick, the £1.2mil p/m I’ve seen to run the club would that be without merchandise, ticket/player sales, EFL payments etc?

What I don’t understand is this. If the club was purchased for 1£, say we go into administration who’ll owe the debt to RD? Also who will own the valley and sparrows lane? RD I guess ?

The football club goes into administration. The ground and training ground remain , as a completely separate entity, under Roland’s ownership.

What do we think?
It’s clear from the above responses that these supporters are deeply concerned regarding the club’s future. Going into administration would likely lead to a points deduction (as per the Daily Mail) and could spell more trouble for the south-east Londoners.
