Some Celtic fans have been discussing the possibility of Henrik Larsson returning to the club as a coach at some point in the future, following confirmation of Damien Duff’s impending departure to join the Republic of Ireland coaching team.

A Hoops-related page recently posted about this on Twitter, saying that they would ‘love’ to see Larsson as a coach at Parkhead. They said that the Swede could help them achieve ‘unique history’ by potentially helping them to win their 10th title in a row next season.

Which club did Larsson join Celtic from?

On reading this post, many Celtic fans made their opinions clear. They would be fascinated if Larsson ever returns to be part of the Celtic coaching team.

Do you want Larsson back as a Celtic coach?

Some fans even made it clear that Larsson won’t be needed if Duff is still working at the club in some capacity following the announcement that he would be joining Stephen Kenny’s backroom staff at Ireland this summer. Others are not as hopeful of a Larsson return.

Larsson has already taken up multiple non-playing roles in Sweden. He was most recently the manager of former club Helsingborg and has also managed the likes of Landskrona and Falkenberg in the past. He’s also previously acted as an advisor to another Swedish club in Angelholm. As per Transfermarkt, he already has a UEFA Pro License.

What do we think?

While Duff looks set to join the coaching setup at the Irish national team, he is still very much active at Celtic. Hoops fans seem to be clinging on to the hope that Duff can juggle his commitments between club and country, though in any case, it looks like any return for Larsson to Celtic won’t be happening any time soon.
