Some Birmingham City fans have been reacting to a tweet that was recently posted by Blues-focused journalist Brian Dick, in which he reminisces about the Blues’ League Cup final success from 2011.
The Blues’ YouTube channel provided a stream of their 2011 victory this past Sunday.
The following day, Dick posted his tweet declaring that he enjoyed watching this classic Blues match via YouTube and that he “can’t wait for the civic reception”.
As reported by Birmingham Live back in February 2012, some Blues fans shared some frustration with the handling of their celebrations following this cup win as the club “never got to properly celebrate and revel in their finest hour”.
Former Blues player Stephen Carr shared a similar sentiment to that, admitting that “the celebrations afterwards were a big letdown”.

Pah, Boris Johnson will be PM and Donald Trump US President before the Villa-loving Birmingham City Council will give us a parade.

What do we think?
As stated by Birmingham Live, the Blues received “no open-top bus parade through the city streets, neither a post-Wembley banquet” following their historic League Cup win in 2011; instead, they were honoured during a civic reception at St. Andrew’s “on the Sunday after the next game”.
Considering that they had to wait until after their next game to celebrate winning their first major trophy for 48 years, it may be understandable why some Blues fans look back negatively on the celebrations that followed this League Cup victory.
