According to the report, the 32-year-old turned down a move to Molineux last summer as he wanted higher wages than he was offered and a key role in Nuno Espirito Santo’s team.

However, Calciomercato touted both Wolves and West Ham United as possible destinations, with the latter being dependant on the Hammers remaining in the Premier League, though.

TiF Tactics – How does Khedira compare?

Nuno Santo currently has five central midfielders who could provide opposition to Khedira in the first team, those being Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho, Morgan Gibbs-White, Leander Dendoncker and Romain Saiss (per Transfermarkt).

The most obvious competition to the German of those would be Moutinho due to their similar ages and the Portuguese 33-year-old having been a key feature for Wolves, having scored one and assisted 13 in 46 appearances in all competitions so far this season (per Transfermarkt).

The Juventus midfielder, who is valued at £6.3 million (as per Transfermarkt), has scored zero and assisted once in 17 appearances in all competitions so far this season (per Transfermarkt).

When delving deeper into their statistics, it would appear that Wolves already have a more talented middleman than Khedira.

In the Premier League this season, Moutinho has made an average of 2.2 key passes, 49.6 total passes and 1.4 interceptions per game (per WhoScored).

In Serie A, Khedira has an average of 0.7 key passes, 25.5 total passes and 0.3 interceptions (per WhoScored), meaning that reigniting the move may not be worth it for the Old Gold.
