Four years ago, on 2nd April, the Frenchman scored a wonderful free-kick that left Crystal Palace’s goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey motionless.

Truly magnificent, the bend and spin on the ball. It was never ever near the goal until it was in the back of the net. I was there and what a privilege it was to support the club while #payet was there.

I still don’t understand how he got that kind of trajectory on the ball

I was convinced it was going over the bar……….and then it hit the net

For me this is his best free kick. Unstoppable

I was there and till this day I still don’t understand how that went in. From every angle it looks like it’s just over or hitting the bar. Such an amazing player and it’s a shame how it ended. That season was unreal

What do we think?
This was quite simply a stunning goal from Payet.
Was this Payet's best goal for West Ham?
Yes
No
To get the ball over the wall and into the top corner takes incredible technique.
Palace had a seven-man wall, but it was not enough to stop Payet – who, on his day for West Ham, was incredible.
Signed from Marseille in the summer of 2015, Payet made 38 appearances that season and scored 12 goals and provided 15 assists in all competitions.
Things turned sour the next season when Payet demanded to go back to France, but for that first season, he was superb, and this goal, to us, was a standout moment.
