Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to the news that the club’s players are yet to agree to a wage reduction amidst the current viral outbreak.

According to The Athletic (via Ricky Sacks), the hierarchy at the north London club is yet to come to an agreement with the players over a wage reduction. The report suggests that a lot of the Spurs squad feel they are undervalued, especially after the 2016/17 Premier League season where many felt their performances warranted a pay rise.

The BBC suggested that each Premier League club would be negotiating player pay-cuts on a club-by-club basis, but it seems as if some of the personnel at the Spurs are not keen to do so. This is despite the likes of Harry Kane and Tanguy Ndombele reportedly earning £200,000 a week with the Lilywhites.

Reaction from Spurs fans to the reported wage cut news can be seen in the tweets below.

Lots of these Spurs fans clearly feel that the performance in the 2016/17 season, where they finished second in the Premier League, is irrelevant, as the club have still not won a major trophy since 2008.

What do we think?

Even if the players feel undervalued, this is arguably a discussion for another time, and considering that the majority of players earn upwards of £50,000 a week, we feel that a wage cut wouldn’t be too harmful in the current circumstances.
