Spurs fans on Twitter have been discussing Ryan Sessegnon’s debut season with the Lilywhites.
Twitter account Lilywhite Rose asked fans for their opinion on the youngster’s first season for the North London club, which attracted a lot of Spurs fans in the replies. The 19-year-old signed from Fulham in a deal worth around £25 million last summer but has struggled for regular game-time under both Mauricio Pochettino and Jose Mourinho; making just six appearances in the Premier League this season.
The England U-21 international’s only goal for the club came in a 3-1 defeat against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, although Mourinho has opted to play the former Fulham man as a left-back or left wing-back in the majority of his appearances, which perhaps partly explains his lack of goal contributions.
Was Sessegnon a waste of money?
Yes, he's not good enough
No, he's got a lot of potential

Waste of time.

Felt when he had the chance to show up against teams he played against from the level we signed him ,he let himself down badly

4/10. Huge disappointment

Poor. Very poor. But is still young and has some credit in the bank, but if he doesn’t improve 10 fold then won’t have a future at the club in the next 18 months

Whatever injury he has had seems to have made him nervous. Moves like he’s worried he will pull something again. That said he looks like a great prospect. Good going forward. Really quick. Not sure he’s a left back though. Maybe more wing back / left winger.

Injury plagued and frustrating.

Wait, what – he plays for us?

Hopeless

These Spurs fans clearly aren’t too impressed with Sessegnon’s first season at the club and will be hoping to see a lot more of the youngster when the season restarts.
What do we think?
Sessegnon has only featured 12 times for Spurs in all competitions this season so he hasn’t been given much of a chance to show what he can do yet. If he can rediscover the sort of form that saw him named the Championship Player of the Year with Fulham aged just 17, then surely Spurs fans will start to believe in the £28.35 million rated man soon enough.
