Spurs fans on Twitter have been discussing former centre-back Ledley King and his career with the North London club.
A Spursy Podcast asked for the opinions of Lilywhites supporters on the centre-back, who made 317 appearances for Spurs during his time at the club, scoring 12 goals and providing three assists.
Considering the 39-year-old made his first-team debut for the Lilywhites in the 1998/99 season and stayed with the club until his retirement in 2012, he could have gone on to make more appearances had he not struggled with injuries throughout his career.
Would King be regarded as one of the best defenders of all time if he hadn't struggled with injuries?
Yes
No

A monster. Would of handled players like joelinton and Antonio a bit easier than we currently do

Legend. Without a doubt the best centre half of his generation. If he had two knees, Rio and Terry wouldn’t never had got so many caps. Rolls Royce of a defender. Had it all.

Legend. Only thing to say.

I cannot praise this man enough! An absolute legend and a world class footballer imagine how amazing he would have been if it wasn’t for the injury. He is a symbol of everything that’s good about football. King by name King by nature!

Legend. Not rated highly enough outside of Spurs. Would’ve been talked about alongside Terry, Rio, Kompany etc if he’d stayed fit. Never forget how good he was for England on those rare occasions he played.

Would have been better than Ferdinand, Terry and Adams combined if not for his knees. Didn’t train all week, other than swimming! Would have been England captain without question… but possibly not been at Tottenham! Pure class!

Absolute legend.. better than John Terry with only 1 knee

These Spurs fans seem to be in agreement that King was a quality player during his time at the club and only injuries prevented him from being regarded as a better player.
What do we think?
It is a shame that injuries really blighted King’s career and forced him into an early retirement, but it is good to see he is still highly regarded by the majority of Lilywhites supporters.
