Spurs fans have been discussing former Tottenham, Manchester City and Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor on Twitter this week.
The Togolese forward made 113 appearances for the North London club, scoring 42 goals and providing 20 assists in his time with the Lilywhites. ‘A Spursy Podcast’ asked Spurs fans for their opinions on the striker, which has attracted the attention of plenty of supporters of the North London club on Twitter.
The 36-year-old, who is currently playing in Paraguay, originally joined on loan from Manchester City in August 2011 before making the move permanent a year later. He then spent three years with the Lilywhites, before being released in 2015, after scoring just two Premier League goals in the 2014/15 season.
Do you wish Spurs hadn't signed Adebayor permanently?

Was fantastic on loan. That’s where it should have ended. Once we signed him, he downed tools.

Played great the first season when he was on loan, and city were paying half his wages I think, but as soon as he got a contract with us he got lazy

Mercenary and had no love for the club or anyone other than himself, I think we’d give anyone a pass if they play with heart and desire but you can’t build a winning team if one of them doesn’t mind if he wins or loses

When he wanted to play he was class, when he didn’t he was awful

Shame his effort wasn’t as good as his ability

An absolute embarrassment. Have vague memories of him missing a penalty in The Europa league and smirking as he walked back…

He was only could when he needed a new contract, soon as he signed it, he was awful. Horrendously lazy and the worst first touch I’ve ever seen from a professional footballer

These Spurs fans seem to be in agreement that Adebayor was a quality player on his day, but unfortunately, he was very inconsistent.
What do we think?
Adebayor had a respectable goal record with Spurs and managed 17 goals in the Premier League during his season on loan, but was never really able to match that once he joined permanently.
