In his latest article for Football.london, Alasdair Gold has discussed some of the youngsters who could make an impression on Jose Mourinho’s first-team next season.
One of the youngsters he discusses is Harvey White; who is yet to make a first-team appearance for the North London club. However, Gold suggests that the 18-year-old was impressing former manager Mauricio Pochettino during his time in charge; saying (per Football.London):
“White caught the eye of Pochettino in the summer, showing his versatility by playing at left-back against Juventus and Manchester United during the tour to Asia.
“He has returned to play with the U23s and he’s been a leading light for them this campaign, playing mostly in midfield but also doing a job at left-back at times.”
He also compares the young midfielder to Christian Eriksen; who left the club to join Inter in the January transfer window after making 305 appearances for the Lilywhites during his time in England. He continued:
“White can sit in a deeper role or help link up with the attacking players and his set-piece ability catches the eye.
“His corners are consistently dangerous and he’s always a threat from free-kicks, having scored with some top drawer strikes in recent years.
“With that set-piece ability and ability to pop up with goals and assists, we’re going for the next Christian Eriksen here – albeit the Dane before his set-pieces went to pot.”

TIF Tactics:
It has been suggested in recent weeks that the current viral outbreak could have a serious impact on Spurs’ transfer budget this summer, so it is interesting to see some of the current academy players who could be given a chance in the first-team next season. We have seen the likes of Harry Winks and Oliver Skipp progress from the academy to the first-team as central-midfielders in recent years, so perhaps White will be the next youngster to make an impact in the senior side.
White also boasts the record of scoring the first-ever penalty at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and his reported prowess in dead-ball situations could be something that impresses Mourinho if he looks at bringing the 18-year-old into the first-team set up next season.
