In his latest article for Football.london, Alasdair Gold has discussed some of the youngsters he feels could make an impression on the senior side at Spurs next season.

One of those youngsters is centre-back Malachi Fagan-Walcott, who made his senior debut for the club in the 3-0 defeat against RB Leipzig last month. The 18-year-old could take inspiration from Japhet Tanganga, who has progressed from the academy and become a regular in the first team in recent months.

What is former Spurs defender Sol Campbell's real first name?

Here is what Gold had to say about Fagan-Walcott and his chances of progressing into the first team next season under Jose Mourinho (per Football.London):

“The England U18 international is a talented young defender, with strength, good anticipation and technique.

“He has trained with the first team on a number of occasions this season despite his age, and 2020 will be a year when he looks to catch Mourinho’s eye even more.

“There is a lot of belief in Fagan-Walcott in the academy, hence his elevation at just 17 to Mourinho’s squad in Germany.

“He’s only young and has plenty of filling out to do and developing but with his potential, we’re going to throw the potential to be the next Ledley King tag in here.”

Do you think Fagan-Walcott could have a similar impact to Tanganga next season?

TIF Tactics:

Considering the current viral outbreak, it would not be a surprise to see Spurs relying on some of the talented youngsters in their academy next season rather than spending big on new players. It has been suggested in recent weeks that Daniel Levy will hand his Portuguese manager a depleted budget ahead of next season, so perhaps Fagan-Walcott could be one to benefit from a potential lack of signings by the north London club.

We must also consider that Jan Vertonghen’s contract with Spurs is set to expire this summer, so the Lilywhites arguably need a centre-back to step up as his potential replacement. Gold even suggests that the England U18 international could be considered as the next Ledley King, which will no doubt go down well with Spurs fans, considering King made 323 appearances during his Tottenham career.
