Spurs fans have been discussing some quotes from Mayor of London Sadiq Khan regarding the club’s decision to furlough its non-playing staff.
Daniel Levy announced earlier this week that the club would be using the government’s furlough scheme to pay its non-playing staff 80% of their usual wage, whilst the players would continue to earn their full wages. Khan criticised the North London club in an interview with BBC 5 Live, with quotes relayed by the Independent, saying:
“Highly paid football players are people who can carry the greatest burden. They should be first to sacrifice their salary rather than those who work in catering & hospitality.” (via LastWordonSpurs).
Are you disappointed in your club?
Yes
No
Reaction from Spurs fans to the quotes from Khan can be seen in the tweets below.
I’m ashamed of my club, I thought they were better than that, I don’t care about other clubs, I thought @SpursOfficial would lead by example.

These Spurs fans seem to agree with the quotes from Khan and suggest that the club have really let their staff down in their decision to furlough them.
What do we think?
Hopefully, we will see the players voluntarily take a pay cut in order to ensure that the non-playing staff at Spurs continue to earn a full wage, but it is impossible at this point to know whether they will do so.
