Spurs fans have been discussing former academy talent Marcus Edwards after it was reported that a number of Premier League clubs are taking an interest in the 21-year-old.

According to Portuguese news outlet O Jogo, as per Sport Witness, his strong first season with Vitoria Guimaraes has drawn the attention of some top-flight English clubs (via Ricky Sacks). Since making the move to the Liga NOS side last summer, the winger has averaged an impressive 7.29 rating for his performances in the league; having contributed four goals and four assists.

How well can you remember these obscure Spurs players? - Who is this?

The report suggests that should Edwards make the move back to England, then Spurs could benefit, due to having negotiated a 50% sell-on fee when he departed at the end of last season. During his time with the North London club, Edwards made just one appearance for the senior side and was sold on after a number of disappointing loan spells.

Reaction from Spurs fans to the news on Edwards can be seen in the tweets below.

These Spurs fans clearly seem to think that Edwards had enough talent to become a success with Spurs, with several fans suggesting that the club should bring him back.

What do we think?

Considering the 50% sell-on fee, it surely wouldn’t be too costly to bring the £3.15 million rated man back to North London this summer, so perhaps he should be given a second chance to show what he can do.
