In his latest Q and A session with Spurs fans, Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold answered a question from a Spurs fan regarding the future of Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentinian was sacked as Spurs manager in November of last year and is yet to take another job in football management, which led to one Spurs fan enquiring with Gold where he thought the 48-year-old could end up. Gold replied, saying:

How well can you remember these obscure Spurs players? - Who is this?

“I think Manchester United fits Pochettino the best with their belief in their academy although there’s a lot of work to do there.

Real Madrid has always felt like a bad fit for a manager like the Argentine who requires time to implement his philosophy.

I wouldn’t rule out Italy either once they get over their obvious problems right now. Pochettino has strong links to Italy due to where he comes from in Argentina and I think as Serie A grows stronger with their tax breaks for footballers so it will continue to be an appealing league.” per Football.London live blog (16:01)

TIF Tactics:

Before football was suspended, Manchester United were in excellent form, so it would perhaps be a surprise to see them sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and replace him with Pochettino in the near future. Gold seems to rule out Real Madrid but if the Spanish side fail to win La Liga or fail to turn around their Champions League tie with Manchester City, then perhaps we could see the Frenchman given the axe.

Wherever the former Southampton boss ends up, we’re sure he will remain in the hearts of a lot of Spurs fans, especially after last season’s memorable run to the Champions League final. If he avoids a return to the Premier League, then his reputation and relationship with Lilywhites supporters is arguably less likely to be tarnished, so as Gold suggests, perhaps a move to a league such as Serie A could be on the cards.
