Spurs fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports by Martin Lipton regarding European qualification for next season.
According to Lipton’s reports in The Sun, if it proves impossible to complete the Premier League season amid the current viral outbreak, UEFA have been urged to use coefficient scores to determine which teams would play in respective European competitions next season.
The report goes on to claim that, if the idea comes to fruition, Arsenal would join Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United in the 2020/21 Champions League, with Spurs, Chelsea and Leicester in the Europa League. However, Tottenham would then take City’s place in the Champions League, as long as their two-year ban from European football is upheld.
In reaction to the reports, which were relayed on Twitter by Daily Hotspur, fans of the club have flocked to have their say on the matter, with many suggesting that the proposal is disgraceful. This is despite Tottenham likely being awarded a Champions League place while currently sitting eight in the Premier League, while others have claimed that they would welcome the decision.
Would you like to see Spurs take a place in the 2020/21 Champions League based on coefficient scoring?
Yeah, why not?
No way, it's unfair

Though i would love to see us play CL football, we dont deserve it all. This would screw over Leicester and Sheffield who have worked hard to have a chance to qualify

Disgraceful if that happens

So you’re really saying City’s ban is quashed.

Surely that won’t happen. Would be outrageous on teams like Leicester

I’ll take that??

Absolute joke that Arsenal have a higher Co-efficient than us when they havent been in the Champions League for 3 years.

What do we think?
While the current situation surrounding football is indeed a difficult one to attempt to deal with, the reported proposals do seem extremely harsh on the ‘lesser’ sides that have performed above expectations so far this season.
With Leicester currently sitting third in the Premier League table, with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Sheffield United in sixth and seventh respectively, the idea of rendering their league position as worthless with regards to qualification for European competitions next season would be extremely unfair.
However, it would appear that many Tottenham fans also feel this way, and whether the proposals are taken forward or not, it is reassuring to see that a vast majority of the fan base feel that they do not deserve a place at Europe’s top-table just because they are a bigger club.
