A group of Tottenham Hotspur supporters have been discussing a recent interview in which Gareth Bale referred to himself as a fan of the club. The Welsh international was speaking to BT Sport’s Jake Humphrey and made the comment which has seen many of the club’s fans flock to Twitter in response.
The 30-year-old left north London in September 2013 to join Spanish giants Real Madrid in a deal reportedly worth £90.9m, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk. However, it’s clear from this interview that he holds very fond memories of his time representing the Lilywhites, and that appears to have gone down well with the club’s faithful – who have urged the club to consider bringing him back.

What do we think?
Gareth Bale played 203 times for Spurs, scoring 56 goals and providing 58 assists according to Transfermarkt.co.uk. Since leaving the club, the winger has gone on to become a European champion four times with Los Blancos.
It’s clear the supporters would love to see their former hero return, however, he still has until the summer of 2022 to run on his current deal with the Spanish club and Real Madrid have given no indication – at least publicly – of what it would cost to persuade them to let go of the now £28.8m-rated ace. Considering the way Bale referred to the club in his recent interview, perhaps that a potential transfer is something on the Welshman’s mind, too.
