A lot of Newcastle United fans have replied to a tweet from Henry Winter as he offered his thoughts on the proposed takeover of the Toon.
The Times writer claimed that ‘several Premier League clubs still voicing concern over Saudi involvement’ and that ‘self-interest’ is playing a part.
He thinks that fears of a ‘well-funded’ and ‘ambitious NUFC’ is one of the reasons why some top-flight teams have concerns.
However, he confirmed in a tweet in response to one fan that he would be surprised if any of this got in the way of a takeover because the Premier League wants competition and new money in the league.
Do you agree with what Winter said?
Yes
No
This tweet has drawn the attention of these Newcastle fans.
Everybody expecting #NUFCTakeover to be waved through. Several Premier League clubs still voicing concern over Saudi involvement, though. Ethics, broadcast deals, but also self-interest – fears of the threat of a well-funded, newly ambitious #nufc.

I can imagine a lot of the top teams worrying that NUFC will be a threat so wanting to try and stop this, but surely they wont have any say…

What do we think?
Winter makes an interesting point about the other Premier League clubs, and if his post is to be believed, then that increases the number of challenges thrown at this proposed takeover.
Amnesty International, Fair Square, and BeIN Sports have also raised concerns.
However, Toon fans should be encouraged by what Winter said in his reply to a fan – as he doesn’t think any of it will have an impact.
