A lot of Newcastle United fans have replied to a post from NUFC 360 which has included a screenshot of the back page of the Daily Mirror, which claims that there is a second takeover bid on the table for the Toon.
The Mirror claims that American ‘media mogul’ Henry Mauriss has tabled an offer worth £350m to buy Newcastle United and that the bid to buy the Toon is genuine.
Still, it can only succeed if the Premier League rejects the proposed takeover by Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed consortium.
The report also states that Mike Ashley has granted exclusivity to the first bid, so talks with Mauriss cannot continue.
Do you believe that there is a second bid on the table?
Yes, and it is going to ruin the takeover
No, I don't believe it
This report has drawn the attention of many Toon fans who don’t believe it.

Tbf they do say it’ll only happen if the Saudis fail which they won’t
— Matthew Daly (@MatthewDaly1999) April 27, 2020
It’s basically saying if the Saudi one fails (which it won’t) they’ll be ready to pounce. Not worth a click.

Ignore it just someone from the mirror trying to stir the pot and send fans into a meltdown

There are, however, some Newcastle supporters who fear that this could jeopardise the Staveley takeover.
Takeover off then. ?

What do we think?
Luke Edwards mentioned in a tweet over the weekend that he had heard news of a second bid and this must be what he was talking about.
He also told Toon fans to ignore it, and he reiterated that message via another tweet on Tuesday.
This does seem like an odd time to claim that there is another bid on the table, considering that a deposit has already reportedly been paid to Ashley by PCP Capital Partners.
We will just have to wait and see what happens.
