Fans of Newcastle have been reacting to a post on Twitter, in which Sam Jones discusses the recent bad press surrounding the club’s owner, Mike Ashley, as well as supposed developments in Newcastle’s proposed takeover.
In the post, Jones suggests that it appears to be a coincidence that, following the bad press surrounding Newcastle owner Mike Ashley, there are now reports of developments in the sale of the club.
In reaction to the tweet, fans of the club have flocked to share their opinions on the matter, with many agreeing that the positive news regarding the sale of the club has coincidentally followed the rather more negative stories concerning Ashley, while others commented on the lack of media attention on the subject.
Mike Ashley takes centre stage for criticism in the national press, then suddenly the takeover's progressing… I don't want to be THAT guy, but surely that's a big coincidence? #NUFC

What do we think?
As many of the Newcastle fans suggest, it would appear to be a rather large coincidence that there are reports of a fresh takeover bid at Newcastle following the recent negative press coverage of Ashley.
In recent weeks, the Newcastle owner has been slammed for, firstly, attempting to declare that one of the stores he owns, Sports Direct, is an essential service, thus meaning he would not have to close the shop during the current restrictions on the opening of restaurants, pubs and shops in the UK.
Secondly, Ashley recently furloughed all non-playing, as well as first-team coaching staff at Newcastle, something else that has drawn negative attention in the press.
As such, it is evident to see why Newcastle fans believe that the fresh takeover talks are nothing more than diversion tactics from their club’s owner.
