A lot of Newcastle United fans have responded to a tweet from Martin Hardy – who has suggested that if this proposed takeover goes through then, the Toon should bring back Kevin Keegan.
The Times reporter thinks that ‘the symbolism of his return would be huge’ and that ‘the bloke ignites the entire city.’
This suggestion from Hardy has gone down well with many Toon fans who would love to see Keegan back at the club.
Would you want Keegan back at Newcastle?
Yes
No
If – and it is still an if – Nufc are taken over, then a no brainier is to offer Kevin Keegan a role, even if it is ambassadorial. The symbolism of his return would be huge.

Never a truer word. His treatment by that owner has been an absolute disgrace. King Kev – the best of us!

Absolutely. The passion the guy has for the club and city has never dampened. He still talks with a glint in his eye. Ambassador for me, all day long. He got players to sign just by talking to them with his enthusiasm.

100% agreed.

Thought the same thing today! Would be the perfect PA move, bigger than bringing Rafa back

Couldn’t agree more Martin. Would be great not only for the club, but great for the city. Imagine the scene of his return – I can!

If anyone says no I question their sanity !!!! 100% get him back

Agree 100%. He would be a brilliant ambassador

What do we think?
The 69-year-old had two spells as manager of Newcastle, but things ended badly in 2008 when lack of control on transfers led to Keegan resigning in September in a season that ended in relegation for the Toon.
Since then, he has been publicly against Mike Ashley, and if this takeover was to go through, then Hardy thinks bringing Keegan back would be a popular move.
Judging by some of these replies, it seems that many Toon fans would also like to see the man known as ‘King Kev’ back on Tyneside in some capacity.
