A lot of Newcastle United fans have responded to a tweet from NUFC 360, which has relayed quotes made in an article by The Times.
The Times claims that BeIN Sport has written to the Premier League and its clubs requesting the proposed takeover of Newcastle to be blocked due to Saudi Arabia’s state involvement in piracy with regards to the broadcasting of Premier League matches – suggesting that it represents a significant threat to the takeover happening.
The report claims that BeIN Sport provides the Premier League with £500m in TV money, and that is why this letter is seen as a threat to the takeover.

The jealousy and hatred towards #nufc since this takeover news has come about is absurd, we deserve good news after 13 years of decay and abuse but some people just can’t handle it

What do we think?
Some Toon fans think that the deal would not have got to this stage if this move from BeIN was going to be a significant problem – so many of these Newcastle fans remain confident.
However, the Chronicle’s Mark Douglas makes another good point that this situation is in uncharted waters, and it is not certain what the Premier League will decide to do.
For the sake of these Toon fans, we hope this challenge from BeIN causes no problems.
