A lot of Newcastle United fans have replied to a tweet from Luke Edwards, who claims he has heard news of a second deal verbally agreed regarding the ownership of the Toon.
Edwards claimed at the weekend that he was ‘very confused‘ by this and told people to ignore it.
Later, in reply to one fan, the Daily Telegraph reporter claimed that he had chased it up and was deciding to ignore it as it made little sense to him.
Do you believe there is a second bid on the table for Newcastle?
Yes, going to ruin the takeover
No, don't think there is anything in it
However, his original tweet had caused panic amongst some Newcastle fans.
There may be news of 2nd bid for #nufc breaking later. Deal verbally agreed and so on. Which makes very little sense as contracts signed for l Saudi led one and it’s already gone to PL to be signed off. I’m very confused. I would ignore it when it does but will chase up 2mrw

Let me guess, Americans. Controlled by Peter Kenyon.
Willing to give Ashley advertising benefits, club shop rights and will have limited spending.

This could be tragic!

Other Toon supporters, though, are remaining calm and feel that news of a second bid is rubbish.
Best to ignore this nonsense. It’s more stirring and trying to muddy the waters.

Probably just ‘Sunday sport stories to fill back pages ?

2nd bid is a load of rubbish, the Saudi one will be completed and announced in the next few days

What do we think?
The deal for Newcastle to be sold to Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed consortium is currently with the Premier League going through all of the required checks, while a deposit has been paid to Mike Ashley.
Therefore, news of a second bid does seem to be very odd as this current one only has the owners’ and directors’ test to pass before it is a done deal.
We therefore agree with Edwards and recommend Newcastle fans to ignore this supposed second bid.
