What do we think?
Barton has had a controversial career, but he stuck by Newcastle when they were relegated and formed a key part of the dressing room as the Toon stormed to the Championship title in the 2009/10 season.
The former Manchester City man also scored two penalties during the 4-4 draw with Arsenal and since leaving has always spoken out against Mike Ashley.
Barton joined QPR in the summer of 2011 after a dispute over bonuses led to Newcastle allowing to him to leave.
Judging by the replies to his tweet, though, he is still a popular man on Tyneside.
