Some Newcastle United supporters have been reacting to a tweet that was recently posted by football journalist Graeme Bailey regarding the rumoured takeover of the Toon.

Bailey has claimed that Newcastle United “have checked with the Premier League about the prospect of Saudi Arabia buying the club” in his recent tweet, going on to state that it “remains to be seen if Mike Ashley drops his price to below £300m”.

Bailey’s tweet comes after Chronicle Live recently published a report claiming that Ashley “is open to offers to sell” the club, amid reports of interest from “the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia” in purchasing the Magpies.

Some Magpies supporters have flocked to Bailey’s recent tweet to share that they feel it is unlikely that Ashley will lower his reported asking price for the club. Read the posts from some Newcastle fans responding to Bailey’s recent tweet about the potential sale of Newcastle United in the tweets below.

Do you think that this Newcastle United takeover will happen?

YES, ASHLEY WILL SELL SOON

NO, THIS IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN

NO, THIS IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN

What do we think?

According to an article which was published by Chronicle Live on the third of May 2019, while Ashley’s asking price for the club is reported to be £300m, Newcastle United “are actually worth an estimated £383m” as claimed by “the University of Liverpool’s finance lecturer Kieran Maguire”.

If that estimate of the club’s actual worth is indeed true, then it may be understandable why some Magpies fans may feel that Ashley is unlikely to lower his asking price any further.
