A lot of Newcastle United fans have replied to a tweet from Sky Sports News’ Pete Graves that includes a piece of an interview with Faustino Asprilla.
The Colombian and former Newcastle player believes that the Toon can get into the Champions League and thinks that Steve Bruce deserves the chance to get them there.
This has not gone down well with these Toon fans, who don’t want to see Bruce in charge if their club is taken over.
If the takeover happens would you give Bruce a chance?
Yes, he has earned it
No, we need to do better than him
Had a great chat with #nufc hero @TinoasprillaH in Columbia. He's backing Newcastle to get back into the Champions League but thinks Steve Bruce has earned a crack! Some fans won't agree, but many "football" people will share his opinions. Have a listen ??https://t.co/eYTr4H15Of

I whole heartedly disagree

Hes not exactly somebody who will attract / excite potential targets ..his track record speaks for itself ..abysmal

He isn’t good enough man ? City made that mistake with Mark Hughes!

Got to disagree with Tino on this one. The thought of Steve Bruce with a potential £200million war chest is scary, we’ll spend the next few years repairing the damage from expensive flops! IMO we need a complete start from scratch, whole new coaching/management/scouting team.

Until the end of the season. That’s it.

Should get rid of him asap. He’s Ashley’s man and should go with him he produced absolutely dire football in nearly every game from a squad that he had invested over 60 million quid in.Remember he did say at start of season these were his signings.

New owners will get rid of Bruce. Simple he’s nowhere near good enough!

Steve Bruce won’t take us forward and we won’t attract top players with him in charge

What do we think?
Bruce has done an arguably decent job with the Toon this season – in taking them eight points clear of the relegation zone as well as to the FA Cup quarter-finals.
However, if this takeover by Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed consortium comes off, then surely they will look to replace Bruce before the beginning of next season.
A report in the Daily Mail claimed that the former Sunderland boss would keep his job until the end of the season – which we think is fair enough because of the reasons stated above.
However, there are rumours that the potential new owners have targeted the likes of Rafael Benitez and Mauricio Pochettino.
And with some of the fans responding to this interview hoping for a fresh start, a new owner could give the club the opportunity to start afresh.
