A lot of Newcastle United fans are unhappy with a report that claims the Toon have made a bid for Lille’s Boubakary Soumare – the player who apparently turned them down in the January transfer window.
However, according to Duncan Castles, speaking on the Transfer Window podcast (via the Evening Chronicle), the Toon have made another bid.
Castles said Newcastle have made an offer of €40m (£35.1m) for the summer transfer window.
That is less than what they offered in January, while Liverpool are also said to be watching the player.
Do you think Newcastle have made this bid?
Yes, sounds like something Ashley would do
No, I don't think the club have done this
However, this news has not gone down well with many Newcastle fans because they don’t think their club should be making bids when they have furloughed their non-playing staff.

Lies, they’re not even paying their staff

No. They. Haven’t. As the local paper you should be ridiculing these stories.

No money for staff wages but huge bids for players. It’s actually sickening.

But they furlough all non playing staff. @ChronicleNUFC start asking the hard hitting questions like why are they still charging supporters for season tickets and furloughing staff . I’m sorry to say your too easy going on Ashley

What do we think?
It does seem odd that the Toon are bidding for Soumare again when he apparently turned them down. Also, should Newcastle be making bids for anyone when they have furloughed all of their non-playing staff?
To us, and to these Newcastle fans, it doesn’t seem like the right thing to do.
