A lot of Newcastle United fans have replied to a tweet from Mark Douglas that includes a link to the Evening Chronicle – with an update on Matty Longstaff’s future.
The Chronicle has relayed news (12:49) from Voetbalkrant, who claim that the 20-year-old is interested in a move away from Tyneside and is on the radar of Club Brugge and Ajax.
Matty Longstaff can leave Newcastle in the summer on a free because his current deal runs out, and he has not signed an extension – with talks thought to have stalled.
Are you surprised by this from Newcastle?
Yes
No
Douglas, however, believes that it is ‘incredible’ that the younger brother of Sean Longstaff still has not signed a new deal.
These Toon fans, though, disagree with him, and they are not shocked at their club but are still angry at this situation.
Incredible this hasn't been sorted yet https://t.co/Tyu3sOQ7fc

Are you surprised under Ashley? Really… penny pinching, thinking he knows best. I despise the man I really really do

It’s not incredible. It’s typical #nufc. Standard.

That’s why this club is hopeless

Have you forgot who runs out club? Would be incredible if he resolved it with common sense.
— Andrew Lowe (@Andyloweuk) April 12, 2020
The sad thing is it’s actually far from incredible. It’s a predictable development that I think many fans seen coming.

No, not incredible, just NUFC.

This is a disgrace it’s as if the club don’t care if he leaves angry no because this club will not change till Ashley leaves

What do we think?
Matty Longstaff has made 13 appearances in all competitions and has scored three goals this season, including two in the Premier League against Manchester United.
However, despite this and despite Steve Bruce wanting him to sign a new contract – the 20-year-old has not signed a new deal, and it looks as though European clubs are preparing to pounce.
