A lot of Newcastle United fans have responded to a tweet from the Evening Chronicle about the Toon’s reported interest in Barcelona’s Antoine Griezmann.
A report in SportMediaset claims that if the Toon’s takeover by PIF goes through, they will target the Frenchman.
This has drawn a reaction from many Toon fans who seem baffled by this.

What do we think?
Though the takeover is thought to have been agreed in principle, it is still not completed yet, and therefore, any talk of signing anyone – never mind a World Cup winner seems a bit premature.
Griezmann moved to Barcelona last summer for £107m and he has a £717m release clause – so getting him out of Spain could be very hard.
The Frenchman is widely considered to be a world-class player who could demand Champions League football.
So even if the Toon are taken over, would Griezmann really want to swap Barcelona for Tyneside?
It all just seems a bit ridiculous to us, and surely it would be better to wait until the takeover is actually complete before anyone tries to work out who Newcastle want to sign.
