A lot of Newcastle United fans have responded to a tweet from NUFC 360 with details that PIF have agreed to buy a stake in oil company Equinor.
This follows on from a statement made by the company saying that they expect to make more acquisitions in the coming weeks after they had bought a stake in cruise operator Carnival.
This latest news seems to have made some Newcastle fans think that they will be PIF’s next investment.
Do you think this has any relevance to Newcastle?
Yes
No

With this whole pandemic thing going on this is the perfect time to buy the club. Just seen from the chronicle not only are the players losing value so is the club by 20% so Mike might be forced to sell us at less than £300m he needs to sell us now or we’ll be in a horrible state

Shouldn’t they be saving that for Mbappé?

Other Toon supporters, though, are not convinced.
Sorry lads and lasses but as much as I’m an optimist.. this will not happen. We are stuck with the parasite

So they buy into another company in a different sector and people think they’re closer to buying us! You couldn’t make this up.

What do we think?
That is now two companies in less than a month that PIF have invested in, and we can see why that is making some Toon fans think that they will be next.
However, since the recent updates from George Caulkin and Martin Hardy, nothing has been said – so we are not really sure that this means anything.
What can’t be denied, though, is that PIF are on a spending spree – so could the Toon be next?
We will have to wait and see.
