Fans of Manchester City have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays information regarding qualification for the 2020/21 Champions League.
This follows UEFA’s statement on Thursday, which advised that, should national leagues be unable to complete their current seasons, they must decide for themselves how to determine final placings “based on sporting merit”, which would seem to push the suggestion of concluding an incomplete season on a points-per-game basis.
As such, the teams which would qualify for the 2020/21 Champions League would be Liverpool, Manchester City, Leicester and Chelsea.
However, should Manchester City’s two-year ban from European football be upheld, then Manchester United would take their place in the Champions League next season.
In reaction to the news, which was relayed by Man City Xtra on Twitter, fans of the club have flocked to have their say on the matter, with many suggesting that the news is evident of the continuation of corruption within UEFA.
Do you think City will play in the 2020/21 Champions League?
Yes
No
Should the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) refuse Manchester City's European football ban appeal, Manchester United would take the fourth Champions League spot if the Premier League cancelled the current season and followed UEFA's 'sporting merit' guidelines. https://t.co/5mBQvaTgvp

There has to be an appeal process or City lawyers will sue UEFA for all they have so given this appeal will not be available due to the pandemic inline with the correct timelines, MCFC will not be banned next season so pack up go home all desperate Utd Fans.

What do we think?
While it would appear that many of the City fans feel that UEFA has some sort of agenda against them, it is difficult to see how their ban could be overturned, as the club were found not just to have broken FFP rules, but also to have seriously misled UEFA in their investigations into the club’s finances.
