Fans of Manchester City have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports that claim Kalidou Koulibaly will leave Napoli this summer for one of Manchester City, Manchester United or PSG.

According to reports in Italian publication La Repubblica, the likelihood that Napoli will not be playing in the Champions League next season will make the Senegalese’s €6 million (£5.2 million) salary almost unsustainable at the Italian club.

The report goes on to state that because of his high wages, Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis will be open to offers for the 28-year-old, and that Manchester United, Manchester City and PSG are all interested in the £50.4 million-rated centre-back.

In reaction to the reports, which were relayed by Man City Xtra on Twitter, fans of the club have flocked to have their say on the matter, with many suggesting that City should do all they can to sign the defender, while others have questioned why Koulibaly would sign for United.

What do we think?

Despite Napoli’s struggles this season – they are currently nine points off fourth in Serie A – Koulibaly has nevertheless impressed at the San Paolo.

Over his 15 appearances in the league, the 28-year-old has averaged a respectable WhoScored match rating of 6.78, while in the Champions League, the centre-back has been one of Napoli’s standout performers, averaging an incredible 7.43 rating over his six fixtures in the competition.

As such, it is no wonder why so many City fans would like to see Koulibaly at their club next season.
