Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is considering offering Xabi Alonso the position as his assistant manager – that’s according to Goal.com. City are set to appoint somebody this summer after Mikel Arteta left to take up the top job at Arsenal.
It has recently emerged that the former Real Sociedad, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich midfielder could be a candidate to fill the role, however, the report clearly states that no decision has been made yet.
What have the City faithful made of these latest reports on Twitter?
Works for me! ?

Would you like to see Xabi Alonso come in as Pep Guardiola's assistant?
Yes
No
However, some of those who responded to the post were keen to throw another name into the mix, that of the Barcelona and Spain legend Xavi.
Bring Xavi.

What do we think?
It’s clear from the above responses that most of these Manchester City fans would welcome the appointment of Alonso. Having watched Arteta develop into the coach he is today with Pep Guardiola’s guidance, in our opinion, this job presents a huge opportunity for somebody looking to eventually make the step up to top-level management.
