Fans of Manchester City have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports that former City captain Vincent Kompany will personally pay part of his Anderlecht players’ salaries in order to support the club during the current break from football.

According to reports in the Daily Mail, Anderlecht player-manager Vincent Kompany has offered to pay his players’ salaries if they are unable to sacrifice a month’s wages in order to help the club financially during football’s enforced break.

In reaction to the reports, which were relayed by Man City Xtra on Twitter, fans of the club have flocked to share their opinions on the matter, with many praising their former captain for his selfless act.

What do we think?

While it is evident that many City fans still hold Kompany in extremely high regard, it is not difficult to see why.

Alongside his selfless generosity, the 33-year-old made 360 appearances for City, scoring 20 goals and providing 11 assists, while helping his side to win four Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups and two Community Shields.

As such, the reasons as to why City fans still appreciate their former captain very much speak for themselves.
