What do we think?
It would appear that Man City fans are somewhat split as to whether they would like to see Cancelo leave the club, with Semedo heading to Manchester in return. However, after comparing the two players’ stats from this season, it would appear that Semedo is the player who is currently in better form, even if only marginally.
The Barcelona right-back has made 21 La Liga appearances for his side, providing two assists, while averaging a WhoScored match rating of 6.79. In addition, the £28.8 million-rated 26-year-old has registered one further assist in his five Champions League fixtures, averaging a 7.25 match rating.
In comparison, Cancelo has made just 11 Premier League appearances for City, with no goals or assists, averaging a WhoScored match rating of 7.06. The £32.4 million-rated 25-year-old has also made six appearances in the Champions League for City, again, registering no goals or assists, while averaging a 6.91 match rating.
As such, it would appear that a swap deal between to the two players would be very much like-for-like.
