Liverpool fans on Twitter have been slamming a journalist from The Athletic after he selected Daniel James for the Young Player of the Year award ahead of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

This comes after Liverpool fan Twitter account @empireofthekop shared a post on their page relaying this news to their followers.

How many goals has Mohamed Salah scored in all competitions this season?

This post then gathered a lot of replies from Liverpool fans who were not shy in expressing their feelings.

Here’s a sample of Liverpool fans responding to the post:

Should Trent Alexander-Arnold win Young Player of the Year?

The Welshman signed to the Manchester club in the previous summer transfer window. Since then, the 22-year-old has scored just four goals and provided seven assists in 37 appearances across all competitions (per Transfermarkt). Now that this Liverpool page has revealed that Adam Crafton has picked James ahead of Alexander-Arnold for Young Player of the Year, this has paved the way for lots of Liverpool fans to have their say on the situation.

What do we think?

Given James’ poor goals and assists record for the Red Devils this season, it does seem strange that he could be an option for Young Player of the Year.
