Some Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to respond to some comments that were recently made by former Reds defender Mamadou Sakho.
This comes after Liverpool fan Twitter account @AnfieldEdition shared a post on their page relaying comments made by Sakho in a recent interview with French football publication Stadium Mag.
In the interview, Sakho revealed that when he left PSG, he had offers from Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Liverpool.
He also revealed that he chose to join Liverpool because they were one of the clubs of his dreams with a “great history”.
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Liverpool fans who were keen to share their thoughts on the former Reds centre-back.
Here’s a sample of Liverpool fans responding to the post:
Mamadou Sakho: “When I left PSG, I had offers from Barcelona, Bayern, Arsenal and Liverpool. I choose Liverpool because they were one of the clubs of my dreams with a great history. I had the chance to spend four years there in the Reds’ shirt at Anfield with a fantastic crowd.” pic.twitter.com/qr3N8xM4Bz

Was Mamadou Sakho a successful signing for Liverpool?
Yes
No
The 30-year-old joined the Merseyside club from PSG back in 2013. During his time at Liverpool, Sakho made 80 appearances for the club, scoring three goals (per Transfermarkt). Now that the Frenchman has come out and revealed that his admiration for the club is the main reason he joined them back in 2013, this has opened the door for lots of Reds fans to share their views on their former defender.

He was our best CB at one point in time. Didn’t end well but not gonna slate him because he was passionate when he played for us. Who will forget Liverpool country. Sad how it played out in the end

One fan even stated that they wanted to know what happened between him and Jurgen Klopp, which could be due to the fact the pair didn’t seem to get on.
Wanna know what happened between him and klopp tbh…. He would’ve been good back up tbf

What do we think?
It’s nice to hear that Sakho chose to join Liverpool as they were one of his favourite clubs in world football. The reaction from this admission shows that he may still be admired on Merseyside.
