A new book has claimed that Jose Mourinho had a deal in place to become the Liverpool manager prior to joining Chelsea in 2004. ESPN has run a quote from a book written by French journalist Nicolas Vilas, which makes the claim.
According to the text, Mourinho’s then-adviser Jorge Baidek held a meeting with the former Porto boss ahead of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final with Lyon in 2004, in which they discussed an agreement that was in place with Rick Parry who was in charge of transfers at the time.
However, agent Jorge Mendes came back with a ‘much better’ offer from the west Londoners and the rest was history. So how have these Reds fans reacted to the reports they could have ended up with the Portuguese as their boss?

What do we think?
Jose Mourinho is clearly not the most popular figure amongst the Anfield faithful and it’s safe to say that judging from their responses, they feel they dodged a bullet having failed to land the Portuguese coach 16 years ago.
