Liverpool have made initial contact with Marcelo Brozovic’s representatives regarding a potential switch to Anfield – according to Italian publication Libero (via the Daily Mail). The Croatian international still has until June 2022 on his current deal with Inter but it’s rumoured the 27-year-old has a release clause of £52m.
Brozovic has made 23 league appearances for Antonio Conte’s side so far this season, contributing three goals and four assists (via Transfermarkt.co.uk). Predominantly a defensive midfielder, he was a starter in his nation’s heart-breaking World Cup final defeat at the hands of France in 2018.
Here is what some of the Liverpool fans have had to say in response to these recent reports, which were also relayed by the Daily Mirror.

We are going to pay £52mil for a 28 year old MF from Inter when we could’ve had a 27 year old MF from Tottenham for £20mil? Inter need all the players they can get.

Rather have his teammate Barella.

LFC have made big money from TV, CL win and WCC win add to that the Nike deal we deserve to see some exciting signing that will improve the team and help us dominate in PL and Europe. Sadly looks like FSG won’t grant us our wish again.

Would you like to see Brozovic in a Liverpool shirt?
Yes
No
50m for a 28 year old. In a recession…yeah, sure
— John Stevens (@johnnyste_) April 19, 2020
Very much doubt it. We are inundated with midfielders where he plays.

What do we think?
It’s clear from the above responses that these supporters do not believe a deal for the player is likely taking into consideration their current squad, the asking price and the player’s age. Brozovic has proven to be an integral part of Inter’s relative success this season with an average performance rating of 7.24/10 in Serie A according to WhoScored.com.
