Supporters of Everton have been reacting to a Twitter post from the Toffees’ former striker, Tim Cahill.
On Thursday evening, the Australian retired striker revealed that he would be voting for Alan Ball in a poll that was being run by @EvertonRandom (as per Tim Cahill), which supporters loved.

Tim I think this vote will be extremely tight! Best header of a ball I’ve ever seen. Thanks for all the amazing memories pal and keep safe!

Tim, you’re my favourite Everton player since the 80’s, loved your attitude and commitment as well as your ability. You gave everything for us and nobody will ever forget that. But you’re up against the greatest EFC player I ever saw – Bally just shades it for me. Sorry mate?

Thank you Tim. Alan Ball is my all-time hero and the reason i got an EFC season ticket many moons ago. But….and this is the absolute truth – you have been the closest EFC has ever had since to a player with the skill, impact and the commitment. You are a True Blue 🙂

Cahill was situated at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2012, having arrived from Millwall and departed Merseyside for New York Red Bulls (per Transfermarkt).
While with the Toffees, the Australian featured in 276 appearances during which he netted 68 goals and 29 assists (per Transfermarkt), leaving fans full of praise.
My dad was lucky to have have watched Alan Ball and said he was the greatest ever blue behind you. We were both lucky to have watched you. You and big dunc really grasped Everton. Proud of you ?

What do we think?
As can be judged from the responses from Everton fans, it is clear to see that many are in agreement with Cahill that Ball just edged out the Australian former striker.
However, what can also be concluded is that after 97 goal involvements in 276 appearances (per Transfermarkt) fans are still infatuated with the 40-year-old.
