Fans of Everton have been left delighted with a news report from The Athletic on whether the Toffees would be placing any staff on furlough.
On Saturday, Greg O’Keeffe relayed an article of his for the Athletic in which the club’s CEO, Denise Barrett-Baxendale, stated that matchday stewards would continue to be paid while football is suspended, which had fans delighted.
Some clubs are furloughing non playing staff…#EFC's CEO has ensured that match-day stewards still get paid in the lockdown & when football returns they'll get paid again for the games.
Prepared & compassionate.

Do you now think less of the Premier League clubs which have placed some of their staff on furlough?Yes, it is truly selfishNo, I'm not too fussed |
The report from The Athletic came in the same day that it was announced that the Toffees’ rivals, Liverpool, would be placing some staff members on furlough (per BBC).
Everton’s noisy neighbours became the fifth Premier League outfit to do so, with Tottenham Hotspur, Bournemouth, Norwich City and Newcastle United having done the same (per the Express).

What do we think?
Following the announcement that the Reds would be furloughing some of their staff members, the Merseyside club has faced quite the backlash from a number of people (via Daily Mail).
However, it is great to see that the Toffees are standing by their staff in what is an undeniably difficult time for many and it is clear to see why many Everton fans are proud of their club.
