Supporters of Everton have been discussing the Toffees’ former player Nikola Vlasic on social media after a point was raised on the Croatian.
On Wednesday evening, @TheGwladysSt raised the point that the 22-year-old would ‘suit (Carlo) Ancelotti’s 4-4-2 really well’ and that the club would ‘regret selling him’, which had fans discussing their former player.
You know who’d suit Ancelotti’s 4-4-2 really well? Nikola Vlasic, could play wide right or up top. Got a feeling we’ll regret selling him in the end. #EFC

Always bothered me that we kept Walcott instead of Vlasic. I would have kept Vlasic, had something about him

Would’ve liked to see him in this system think there’s a player in there

Definitely a player in there might be better suited to a different league other than PL but could easily see him playing at one of better serie a teams over the next few years

Was it a mistake for the Toffees to sell Nikola Vlasic last summer?Yes, should've kept himNo, not good enough |
After joining Everton from Hajduk Split in 2017, Vlasic was an Everton player for just two years before he departed the Toffees for CSKA Moscow in the summer of last year (per Transfermarkt).
While in Merseyside, the Croatian made only 19 appearances for the Toffees’ first team, in which he netted two goals and bagged one assist (per Transfermarkt), which was enough for some supporters to form their opinions.
Totally agree he’s one that would flourish under Carlo

Nah.
File under the bracket of “Usual over-hyped Everton furore and did little to justify it”

I actually thought he was one of the worst players we have ever signed. Physically weak, and not good at any aspect of what is required to be a premier league midfielder. He looks average now which is an improvement for him because hes playing in a slower pace league.

What do we think?
As can be judged from the responses from these Everton supporters, it is clear to see that there is a divide between those who believe Vlasic had potential and those who thought he would never be good enough.
This season, the 22-year-old has scored eight and assisted six over 30 appearances in all competitions for CSKA Moscow (per Transfermarkt), which could prove that the Croatian has talent.
