Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to discuss former Villan Stephen Ireland.
This comes after Villa fan Twitter account @Total_Villa shared a post on their page that included an old image of Ireland holding his Villa shirt.
This post then gathered a number of replies from Villa fans who were quick to share their thoughts on their former midfield man.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans responding to the post:
Where are they now: Stephen Ireland ??
He joined Villa in 2010 as part of James Milner’s transfer to City, playing 47 times before joining Stoke in 2013
Now 33 & without a club, The Athletic reported he’s offering to play 6 months for free but no club have shown interest #avfc pic.twitter.com/uplDcVfuez

Is Stephen Ireland Villa's biggest flop in recent memory?
Yes
No
The Irishman first signed to Villa Park back in 2010 from fellow Premier League side Manchester City for a fee of £8.73 million according to Transfermarkt. After loan moves to Newcastle United and Stoke City, Ireland left Villa in January 2014 for a free transfer to Stoke. During his time at the Birmingham club, Ireland made 58 appearances for Villa, scoring just one goal and providing seven assists (per Transfermarkt). Now that the subject of Ireland’s time at Villa Park has been brought up on Twitter again, this has given lots of Villa fans the opportunity to share their thoughts and opinions on the former Villan.

When we signed him I thought it was going to be a brilliant signing , but his attitude and ego was all wrong he never wanted to play for us it was like he was forced to move to villa

What do we think?
These Villa fans clearly don’t think much of Ireland and certainly don’t seem to miss him at the club.
